Hi, my name is Mohamed Boughaba, the creative director and founder of “The Good Rugs”. The passion for tufted textiles and rug-making goes long back as I think it all started with a single question: how can that be turned into a business? I have always had the urge to answer that ever since I started taking deep steps into the process of rug making, which remains my core passion till this day.

“The Good Rugs” was born out of Kraków to market tufted rugs in 2024 and since that time, I have been the czar of the creative process in myself, finding inspiration in all new people, surroundings and even small things. My designs are innovative and out of the ordinary; they break the stereotype of the usual rugs and bring forth new forms, feelings and bright colors.

As far as the love for making rugs goes, I had to make a swan dive into it headfirst. I recall watching a film on how rugs are made and at that time, a story of my childhood came flooding back to me. This is when my mom taught me to crochet small Tunisian mats. During the summer holidays, she used to take me to her mother’s house, where I would see her for hours on end on her knees in front of a vertical loom weaving carpets. That memory brought me back to how much I once loved that and decided to opt to turn it into a business.

Soon, I began searching for local and regional workshops, bought my first tufting gun, and constructed a workspace in the basement, throwing myself into the making of the craft. That was challenging—I had to learn the craft through doing, making mistakes and learning from other people who were more skilled than me. Every obstacle was an opportunity, and every opportunity taught me something new regarding how I would design and tuft rugs in the future. After the first workshop, I came to understand that this beautiful art has been crafted for me solely.

Now, from my workshop infused with creativity, I create each product wishing that every piece of it will decorate and cause as much warm feeling as it does to me. Every year I am looking forward to presenting new models, accepting individual orders, and working with so many talented creatives, artists, illustrators, and designers.
